Dr. Bernard (Bernie) Douglas, MD, FAAP
Pediatrics
Born and raised in Nebraska, Dr. Bernard (Bernie) Douglas is honored to have completed his undergraduate studies, medical school, and pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska. He is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Following his residency, Dr. Douglas and his family made Holdrege, Nebraska, their home. It was there that he fully embraced his calling—to care for every child as if they were his own. Driven by a deep desire to bring hope to others, he and his family embarked on an eight-year mission in Spain, where he became fluent in Spanish.
Upon returning to Omaha in 2004, Dr. Douglas joined the faculty at Creighton University Medical School, where he enjoyed teaching medical students and residents. He also served as a pediatrician at Creighton Pediatric Clinic before transitioning to Methodist Health System, providing care at Hawthorne Court Pediatric Clinic for nearly eight years.
In 2016, after much consideration, Dr. Douglas fulfilled his long-held dream of opening a private practice—allowing him to continue offering compassionate, patient-centered care to children and families in the Omaha community.
Dr. Douglas and his wife, Debbie, have been married for 45 years and are blessed with nine children and ten grandchildren. As a father, he understands both the joys and challenges of parenting. He considers it a privilege to support parents—through both illness and health—by providing expert medical care, guidance, and encouragement for their children’s well-being.
